Belle Story
by Peggy Bingham

This is a very fragrant shrub rose hybridized by David Austin (1984) and introduced in 1985 with a parentage of (Chaucer + Parade) = (The Prioress + Iceberg). Austin named Belle Story for a nurse who served in the Royal Navy.

Modern Roses identifies it as a Shrub with light pink petals (35) and yellow stamens. Growing well and attaining a height of 4 to 5 feet, it blooms in clusters and repeats quickly. It also grows well on its own roots. It is a better cut flower than most Austin roses holding its color well for several days. As with most Austin roses, it needs preventive maintenance with a fungicide to keep it healthy.
