Dainty Bess is a beautiful delicate rose that has been around for over 75 years. This rose has been beautiful from the first year I planted it and is easy to grow. She has pink five-petaled blooms with ruffly edges. The silky pink petals are sensitive to light, opening and closing over the stamens. Her growth is tall and upright and the foliage is a soft green. Her stamens make a bright eye and remind you of long maroon eyelashes. Dainty Bess grows approximately four feet and her flowers are in clusters. Best grown in well-drained soil in full to part shade. Removing spent flowers encourages a continuous bloom cycle. Dainty Bess is a tough rose and can withstand very cold temperatures and has good disease resistance.

Dainty Bess was hybridized in England by W.E.B. and Daughter Archer and was introduced in 1925 and was winner of the gold medal from England's National Rose Society in 1925. You can always find her on the show table. Dainty Bess has an ARS rating of 8.9.

Many visitors to my garden have never seen a single-petaled rose. This rose is unique and would certainly make anyone's garden more beautiful. What fascinates me is she has been sharing her beauty for over 75 years!
