Glowing Amber Miniature Glowing Amber’—truly a gem of a rose. An amateur hybridizer by the name of George Mander of British Columbia, crossed ‘June Laver with ‘Rubies & Pearls’ for the resulting offspring. Introduced in 1996, Glowing Amber has an ARS rating of 8.0. Rich red blooms with an amber yellow reverse are beautifully scrolled petals show off the two-color effect to perfection. Blooms are borne singly on stems as well as in clusters of 3 or 5. The plant is vigorous and will grow to about 24 inches in height if not pruned. It makes a first rate potted plant, and performs equally well in the garden or on the show table. There is no doubt that George’s ‘Glowing Amber’ is one of the best introductions in recent years.
