Gold Medal
Grandiflora If you are looking for a yellow rose that blooms profusely, look no further. Gold Medal is medium golden yellow, and in cooler weather can have a blush of orange to light red on the edges. It has a petal count of 35-40, dark glossy green foliage and a slight fruity fragrance. Gold Medal was hybridized by Jack Christensen and introduced in 1981. Its parents are Yellow Pages X Shirley Langhorn. With an ARS rating of 8.5 and a classic high centered form, you can see why it's a favorite on the show table. Taller than most grandifloras with an average height of 5 1/2 to 6 feet, Gold Medal doesn't like to be pruned as low as most grandifloras. Leave it at least a foot higher than you normally would when pruning in the spring. Gold Medal really stands out and will compliment any garden. It is readily available at most local garden centers and can also be purchased online at www.edumundsroses.com. Sonia Richardson |
