Iceberg
Floribunda

This cluster-flowered Floribunda was bred in Germany in 1958 by KORDES with a parentage of Robin Hood x Virgo.

It is easy to understand why Iceberg is considered one of the best and most popular white floribundas. Its double flowers of 25 petals are pure white blooming in clusters and literally covering the entire plant. Because of its profuse blooming, it makes an excellent planting for a massed effect or an informal hedge. I have six planted in a raised circular bed with no other plantings and the display is absolutely beautiful.

I keep mine lightly pruned throughout the season as Iceberg usually grows 4 to 5 feet tall and is slightly spreading. Iceberg has moderately fragrant blooms, is virtually without thorns and is very winter hardy. But don’t forget the spray program -- Iceberg’s light green, narrow, glossy leaves need protection from blackspot.

The ARS Handbook for Selecting Roses gives Iceberg a rating of 8.9, which designates it in the category of an outstanding rose -- “One with major positive features and essentially no negatives, the top 1%.” In 1983 it was voted into the World Rose Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies.

Iceberg can be purchased at local and mail-order nurseries.
