Marijke
Koopman Marijke Koopman, which was bred in England and introduced in 1979, can be one of the most beautiful, hardy and prolific medium pink roses in your garden. It rates a score of 8.7 in the American Rose Society's Handbook for Selecting Roses. Very few roses are rated higher. The bush is very vigorous, producing several strong new canes each year. It grows 5 to 6 feet in the average bed with an upright habit and dark green leathery foliage. It is highly resistant to diseases such as blackspot and powdery mildew. The 4 to 5 inch, lightly scented blooms of 25 petals are normally borne in clusters of 3 to 5 blooms that go a long way toward filling out a bouquet. With disbudding you can obtain bigger single blooms on tall straight stems. It is a quick repeater and with normal pruning, it is in continuous bloom throughout the growing season. It is available through mail order from Edmund's Roses, 6235 SW Kahle
Road, Wilsonville, OR 97070, telephone (503) 682-1476 and website www.edmundsroses.com
