Touch of Class
John Fussell
Touch of Class, a rose with a very apt name and every bit a winner. Its
high 9.2 rating by the American Rose Society is confirmation of its genteel
qualities. Introduced in 1984, it has been a consistent winner on show
tables across the country. It is a classic for all time to come.
A distinctive orange and coral pink bloom with a light touch of cream,
the blooms are packed with 30 to 35 perfectly formed petals that open
in the classically high centered spiral of a true exhibition rose. The
blooms, 4 to 5 inches across with a very light tea rose fragrance, are
borne on long, straight and strong stems that make it as highly favored
for cut flowers in home bouquets as it is on show tables.
The foliage is semi-glossy and dark green. The plant is a vigorous grower
to four or five feet with a pleasing upright form. A prolific bloomer,
it is also a great landscape rose that invites compliments on its beauty.
It is slightly winter tender and in some gardens is a little susceptible
to powdery mildew. Touch of Class is a must-have rose if you love roses
